About Foundation of Thai Massage
This is a required core class for Thai Massage Certificate.
Course Description:
Students will learn about Thailand and a small amount of history, background, and development of Thai massage. Students will additionally learn about the relationships between Thai massage and Buddhism, Thai massage education in prior centuries and the present, the basics of Thai massage, and the four elements (which are principles of Thai massage). The class will also include learning about:
- Sen Sib (energy lines),
- Types of Thai massage,
- Observing Thai culture protocols,
- Application of essential culture
- Therapist’s manner,
- Cautionary sites,
- How science applies to Thai massage,
- Working with clients with special conditions,
- Basic anatomy & physiology in relation to Thai massage,
- Therapist’s oath and ethics,
- Thai massage in Thailand,
- Thai massage materials,
- Essential techniques,
- Application of Thai massage: hand positions, sitting positions, standing positions, good pressure, body mechanic,
- Rhythm and movement,
- How to perform good and effective Thai massage within any time frame,
- Thai massage studio,
- Tip of success,
- Spirituality in Thai massage practice,
- Wai Kru (honoring the teacher),
- King Rama V (Father of Thai massage),
- Dr.Shivaga Komarpaj (the father doctor of Thai traditional medicine).
Outcome:
Certificate recipients will gain practical knowledge about all aspects of Thai massage and will be ready to start practicing hands-on Thai massage by the end of the class.
Students will be familiar with client’s specific conditions, limitations, and needs. Students will be able to explain in scientific reasons about how and why Thai massage is effective and gain an understanding of the Thai way of massage practice.
